New breast health clinics to provide comprehensive breast screening After the initial success of the first infrared breast scanning clinic at Spire Cambridge Lea Hospital, BHUK and Spire Healthcare have partnered to open 30 new breast screening clinics. These infrared breast screenings are non-invasive means of identifying various types of breast cancer, sometimes years before traditional screening techniques. The Infrared cameras pick up 'hot spots' that can be caused by increased blood flow to cancerous tissue. This technique complements other traditional screen technologies such as mammograms.
